Meet Courtney, one of our Graphic Designers

Hi, my name is Courtney, and I’m one of the graphic designers here at Grova. For the time that I’ve worked here, which is about two months, the journey has been nothing less than amazing. Drive and creativity are really integrated behind any and every project request that enters the Grova doors, and I feel blessed to be a part of this hard-working and passionate team.

I don’t consider myself a Tallahassee native, but I am definitely a Tallahassee alum. Though I was born in Maryland, I moved to Tallahassee when I attended middle school. So returning often evokes waves of nostalgia, as montages of that stage in life will flood my mind.

When I’m not in the office working, I’m often lost in my creative thoughts, whether it’s exploring new creative ideas, discovering new music, or planning my next adventure. I always embrace the opportunity to uncover new skills and experiences to grow both personally and creatively.

Okay, now that you know a smidgen more about me, let’s dive into these random questions…

What would be the title of your autobiography?

Does Life Come With A Kid’s Menu? I feel like I owe you some sort of explanation, or hey, maybe you’ll have to wait until my autobiography is released. But until then, here’s a little snippet of why I chose this title.

It’s the idea that maybe there should be a version of life that’s tailored to your inner child. One that lets you color and create on the menu. One that says, “Hey, you don’t have to have it all figured out—you can play, imagine, and explore.” And at the end of the day, your menu (life) will be uniquely your own. An original!

If you could pick a superhero power, what would it be?

My power would be a “2 for the price of 1” kind of deal. I’d have the ability to travel anywhere and have the funds spontaneously appear to sponsor everyone on my trips. Can you tell that I love traveling?

What is something you wish you had more time to do?

I wish I had more time to experiment in the kitchen. I really would love to learn how to cook exquisite meals, ones that Gordon Ramsay could appreciate.

Savory or sweet?

Sweets, all the way and specifically baked goods, from croissants to muffins, to cinnamon rolls. My dream home location would be right next to a Parisian bakery.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Anytime anyone would ask this question, I would faithfully answer, “an artist.” Looking back, my child self knew me pretty well because I get to be an artist every day as a graphic designer.

What’s your go-to song to sing at the top of your lungs?

Any song from Rihanna’s Anti album and I mean every single one. It took some time, but as I’ve cycled through all the stages of grief, I’ve finally come to accept that Rihanna’s next album may never come and that is okay (well, maybe.).

What piece of advice would your younger self tell you now?

Always speak up for yourself. Ask the questions. Embrace discomfort, especially if it is for your personal growth. Be present, and lean into the moments that shape you.
