Meet Sierra, one of our Graphic Designers!

Hi! I’m Sierra, one of Grova’s designers. I graduated from Flagler College in St. Augustine in 2018. I began my career in publishing, working on local Florida and nationwide magazines and books. I wanted to be challenged more, and to be part of a place where I knew I could grow and create things that help people. Grova became the answer for me! Keep reading to learn more about Sierra and uncover her answers to some fun and creative questions!

How did you get into graphic design?

As a very edgy teen, I was active in our local music scene and decided I wanted to learn how to make my photo-collaged gig flyers look more professional. I taught myself basic Photoshop, and the rest is history.

Favorite quote?

I have a few!

“There is some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for.” – Samwise, Lord of The Rings.

Vivamus, moriendum est.” (Let us live, since we must die.) – lol no idea, I found it on Tumblr 10 years ago. It’s the goth version of “YOLO”.

“A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they shall never sit” – Greek Proverb

“To see with eyes unclouded by hate.” – Prince Ashitake, Princess Mononoke

What do you do outside of work?

You can usually find me either reading, playing video games, drawing or engraving glass, making chainmail, or out hiking and looking for bones.

Do you have any pets?

Oh, do I! I have a pug named Pickle, and two cats named Dinosaur Chicken Nugget (Chicken for short), and Meatball.

Favorite goth band?

Impossible to name just one, but a few of my favorites are:

Lebanon Hanover, Type O Negative, Molchat Doma, Clan of Xymox, Skinny Puppy, Twin Tribes, Boy Harsher, Nox Novacula, Casket Cassette, and Harsh Symmetry.

I’ll do you one better, too. One of my pride and joys is this nearly 14-hour playlist I constantly add to. Filled to the brim with classic goth/post-punk, and contemporary bands!

Is there such a thing as too much eyeliner?

No, only those not brave enough to wield it.
